這是一部非常風(fēng)格化的作品，主角是一名年輕的威爾士騎士，他來(lái)到一處神秘的古堡，在那里他見(jiàn)到了圣杯的幻像，但他自己卻沒(méi)有意識(shí)到；次日清晨，古堡人去樓空，騎士繼續(xù)出行，當(dāng)他猛然醒悟到自己看到了圣杯再回去時(shí)，古堡已經(jīng)消失，于是他只能繼續(xù)他的圣杯尋訪之旅。影片完全在攝影棚內(nèi)拍攝，布景故意做得很“假”，而且臺(tái)詞和動(dòng)作多有重復(fù)，頗有一點(diǎn)曲藝的效果。
